What actually goes wrong with screens and keyboards
Display panels are coated, and general-purpose cleaners containing ammonia or strong solvents degrade those coatings permanently. The damage usually appears as clouding or patchiness weeks later, by which point the cause is untraceable and the argument is unwinnable. Even water introduces risk if it runs to an edge, because panel bezels are not sealed against liquid ingress. The office is then left arguing about a fault nobody can trace to a specific evening.
Keyboards and peripherals fail differently. Liquid entering under the keys or into a port causes intermittent faults rather than immediate failure, so the connection to a cleaning visit is invisible. Meanwhile, a keyboard is genuinely one of the dirtier surfaces in an office. That combination, real hygiene value and real damage risk, is why the task belongs in a written method rather than a general instruction.
